Pakistan issues 2200 Visas to Indian Sikh Pilgrims for Baisakhi (Vasakhi) festival

Baisakhi is also known as Vaisakhi or Vasakhi by name and it’s a historical and religious festival in Sikhism. It symbols the Sikh new year (Khalsa era).

Dr. Mohammad Faisal tweeted on Twitter saying that, visas were issued to Indian Sikh Pilgrims by Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.

The representative went on to say, “Pakistan issued visas to 2200 Indian Sikh Pilgrims in line with our efforts to promote inter-faith harmony and people-to-people contacts.”

It is moreover a spring harvest festival for the Sikhs. The festival is traditionally observed on 13 or 14 April, every year.

The festival is significant to both Sikhs and Hindus.
