PM Imran Khan orders recovery of abducted girls allegedly forced to convert To Islam

The two girls, Raveena  of 13 and Reena of 15, were allegedly kidnapped by a group of  men from their home in Ghotki district in Sindh on the eve of Holi.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered an investigation into reports of kidnapping, forced conversion and underage marriages of two teenage Hindu girls in Sindh province and to take immediate steps for their recovery, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry Hussain said on Sunday.

The two girls, Raveena  of 13 and Reena of 15, were allegedly kidnapped by a group of  men from their home in Ghotki district in Sindh on the eve of Holi.

Soon after the abduction, a video went viral in which a cleric was purportedly shown solemnizing the Nikah (marriage) of the two girls.

In a Twitter post in Urdu on Sunday, the information minister said that the Prime Minister has issued directives to the Sindh chief minister to look into reports that the girls in question have been taken to Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab.

The minister tweeted that the Prime Minister asked for holding immediate investigation into the matter.

He directed the governments of Sindh and Punjab to adopt a joint plan to stop such incidents in future.

The minister also quoted Prime Minister as saying that white color in Pakistan flag represents minorities and protecting their rights was our responsibility.
