A Car Explodes in Karachi Khadda Market No Causalities Reported

On Monday it was confirmed by the Deputy Inspector General South Javed Alam Odho that the car blast. It was occurred in an empty plot in Karachi Defence Khadda Market last night; and was caused by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED). A fire brigade van was called to douse the flames, which had completely destroyed the car.

The Deputy Inspector General also revealed that seven to eight kilograms of VBIED was planted in the suspicious car along with six LPG cylinders that were meant to explode with the specific device. Though, the plan did not flourish as the cylinders were found intact, the DIG said. The car’s CNG gas cylinder was also found in one piece.

The car was reported stolen from Karachi’s Jamshed Quarters on Sunday night and it was traced in the Khadda Market area in DHA on Monday morning, where it had blasted overnight in an empty plot; As per DawnNewsTV had reported.

The footage and photographs of the car displayed the burnt remains of a decimated vehicle. No casualties were reported.

It is the second time that the car was discovered to have been stolen. In the year 2007 from the Boat Basin area of Karachi it was stolen and then it was found five days later near Metroville SITE area of Karachi.
