LAHORE: (Christian Times) – Zainab murder case has on Saturday been decided within seven days after the police presented the challan on February 10. The court not only sentenced Imran Ali to death but also fined him with Rs 3.1 million, 14 years in prison and compensation of Rs 1 million to Zainab’s family.
Imran Ali confessed to his crime before the court after which he was provided with 40 minutes to rethink his decision, but after the allotted time, Imran repeated his confession. He has 15 days to challenge the court’s decision now and also possesses the right to counsel access.
It is pertinent to mention here that 7-year-old Zainab had been murdered after rape but there was no witness to the crime and Imran Ali was arrested after his DNA sample matched with the one found from Zainab’s body.
The court stated in the verdict that though there was no eyewitness to the crime but the circumstantial evidence was available and it was enough to deduce that Imran Ali was really the perpetrator.
