RIYADH: (Christian Times) – Saudi Arabia’s Religious Council member Sheikh Abdullah al-Mutliq said while talking on a radio program that the Muslim women should wear clothes covering their bodies but it was unnecessary to cover their faces.

He said that 90% of the women in the Muslim world didn’t cover their faces yet they dressed modestly and thus we shouldn’t be forcing them to cover faces.

It is pertinent to mention here that though this might not be a hint towards a possible amendment in the Islamic Sharia law in Saudi Arabia but it is the first time that such a statement has been issued by a high ranking religious scholar in the peninsula.
