ROME: (Christian Times) – A street artist has been charged with blasphemy for drawing Jesus. The artist has been under heavy criticism. Reports claim that he might face a fine worth 5000 Euros or imprisonment for two years. It is pertinent to mention here that the blasphemy laws in Italy are certainly in place but they are hardly ever brought into use.
A few days back, Jordanian cartoonist Emad Hajjaj had also been charged with blasphemy for having drawn a controversial cartoon of Jesus and Emad is currently facing a trial. The application against Emad claimed that the cartoonist had not only hurt the feelings of the Christians through his cartoon but also those of Muslims.
