09/01/2017-Brampton, Ontario – Ruby Sahota, Member of Parliament for Brampton North, would like to wish all Muslims in Brampton North and across Canada who are celebrating Eid al-Adha, a joyous Eid Mubarak.
During Eid al-Adha, Muslims visit the mosque for special prayers, spend quality time with family and friends, exchange gifts and give to those less fortunate. Known as the Festival of the Sacrifice, it is when Muslims honour the time Ibrahim was to sacrifice his son to show his devotion to Allah and instead a goat was sacrificed in the place of his son by the order of God. In addition, Eid al-Adha marks the end of Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.
“Muslim Canadians are an integral part of our Canadian fabric and identity. Together, we celebrate the Eid al-Adha, which signifies the appreciation for inclusion and diversity in our communities”, said MP Sahota. “I wish a heartfelt Eid Mubarak to my Muslim brothers and sisters who are celebrating Eid al-Adha.”
