21/08/2017– Brampton, ON – Ruby Sahota, Member of Parliament for Brampton North, congratulates over 230 Brampton North students who just completed their summer employment thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs program.
“A summer job is one way for young people to develop their skills and gain valuable work experience. This summer, young Canadians across the country, and right here in Brampton North, worked to get work experience and earn money for the upcoming school year,” said MP Sahota.
Canada’s future prosperity depends on a highly skilled and experienced workforce. It’s essential that young Canadians have access to meaningful work from the beginning of their careers. That’s why the Government of Canada is giving young Canadians the opportunity to do just that through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program.
This summer in Brampton North, over 230 job opportunities were available thanks to approximately $750,000 in CSJ funding. Employers included: A4H Basketball, Overcomer Summer Camp, Iskaashiga, Bridgeway Family Centre, LAB B, and many more.
Since forming government, we have nearly doubled the number of jobs available through the CSJ program. Since its inception, CSJ has helped approximately 330,000 students. The Government of Canada will continue supporting Canadian youth by creating more opportunities for young people to learn new skills, and gain valuable work experience that will position them for a better future.
