LAHORE: Christians in Pakistan are frightened of the terror outfit Islamic State as the outlawed organisation claimed responsibility of the two attacks on Christian community members in Quetta during the last few months.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Tariq Christopher Qaiser says that the extremism in the country was increasing to dangerous levels and it was highly concerning. He said that he had been raising his voice about the issue in the past as well and would continue to do so.
It is pertinent to mention here that four members of a Christian family had been murdered in Quetta just one day after Easter while they were travelling in a rickshaw. One of the dead was a woman. Four months ago, just a week ahead of Christmas, a suicide attack on a Methodist church had claimed nine lives and left several injured. Both the attacks were claimed by IS.
Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Chairman Dr Mehdi Hassan says that religious extremism could further increase in the country after IS accepting the responsibility for the attacks.
