KARACHI: (Christian Times) – Thousands of Christian families were left disappointed as the government failed to pay the salaries of 9500 Christian employees despite the orders by Sindh High Court (SHC).

According to media reports, SHC had ordered to pay the Christian employees their dues ahead of Christmas but the orders were not acted upon by the government. 7000 Christian employees of Karachi’s District Municipal Corporation and 2500 employees at Karachi Water and Sewerage Board were not paid their salaries.

This is not the first time that Sindh government has acted so irresponsibly. Earlier, the provincial government had failed to pay the salaries of Muslim employees ahead of Eid al-Azha and those of Hindu employees before Diwali.

SHC had passed the order on December 19 that all the Christians be paid their salaries on December 20 but the provincial bureaucracy remained unmoved.
