DHA occupying 300 kanals of Lahore land, reveals ETPB chairman
ISLAMABAD: (Christian Times) – Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has admitted in National Accounts Committee (PAC) that Defence Housing Authority (DHA) is currently occupying 300 kanals of Lahore land in complete violation of the agreement between the two institutions and that ETPB was trying to recover the land.
According to details, PAC’s meeting was held in Islamabad under the headship of Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah. The committee took notice of the losses worth Rs 1.93 billion that the national exchequer had suffered at the hands of ETPB.
Audit officials revealed that ETPB suffered a loss worth Rs 1.93 billion in a deal with DHA. ETPB chairman Siddiqul Farooq told that the deal had been made by former chairman Asif Akhtar Hashmi. Now DHA occupied 300 kanals of the land. He added that DHA wasn’t complying with the orders of Supreme Court and the trust hadn’t recovered even a single plot as yet.
Farooq requested before PAC to get its land recovered, upon which Khursheed Shah ordered DHA Director to appear on the next meeting to explain why SC orders hadn’t yet been carried out.
He told the committee that ETPB’s former chairman Syed Asif Akhtar Hashmi had signed an agreement with DHA for the development of 1110 kanals of the land but DHA returned only 800 kanals of it and was still occupying the remaining 3000 kanals.
PAC chairman directed all the departments that no officer having a grade below 20th should appear in a meeting in the future and also ordered Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director to appear on the next meeting.
